Hey pandas! So last week was Thanksgiving here in the US, and while we thought we had everything planned out so that we would still be on schedule, life came up the only night we could record before holiday travel started. Since we wouldn’t want to miss a week, here is the audio of the live show we did at Acadecon, in panda suits! Patreons already have access to the video to see this, but we’ll be releasing the video to the public also sometime this month. We did a question round up on some things that had been hanging around that we didn’t think we could fill a whole show with, messed up a lot, and this my friends…this is what it sounds like before I put all that stuff at the end.

Senda and Phil show us how they handle leveling up characters mid session! It’s not something we’ve done a lot but we tackle it anyway. Why would you plan to level up in the middle of a game session? If you’re going to, what are the best ways to do it without interrupting the flow of the game itself? In more news, I can’t remember the words to the song, we sing a couple extras, and we learn Phil’s college nick name.

We stalked another game designer! This time we found Strix, on third of the magical matrix behind the current Kickstarter Bluebeard’s Bride. Strix does all the things on the internet and studies games as way more than a hobby. She joins us to talk about Bluebeard’s Bride both as a fairy tale and a game of capital H Horror. We also confused her a lot y singing our opening and closing songs on mic. We gotta get better at not weirding people out, you guys.

Show us how you prep for short one shots and….normal one shots? Senda and Phil field a prep and length question about running 1-2 hour one shots vs. more standard 3-4 hour one shots. Phil wears a hoodie and does strange things that crack Senda up with the hood. I have a bad feeling about this. They managed to keep the episode *almost* short, but not the outtakes! Show us how you handle prepped NPCs vs. on the fly NPCs! Phil and Senda wrangle some thoughts on how to create characters with appropriate depth in both cases, some useful tools and approaches to creating on the fly, and things to consider when you’re planning in advance.
