Hey Folk. Back after the great website debacle of 2018 and with a new website. It’s time to talk improv with Doc Palindrome. He’s got the requisite skills and abilities to talk about improvisation from his comedy troupe and he’s here to dispense some knowledge.
MMP#298 – Improv with Doc Palindrome

Interesting topic. There’s a lot of improv tools that are applicable in roleplaying (some of the basics are covered in Play Unsafe, which was written by an actor and roleplayer). I also agree that improv has stuff it can learn from roleplaying, especially in providing different structures to assist long-form improv. Fiasco has often been used as a long-form structure, Ribbon Drive has been used a couple of times, I myself directed an improvised long-form show based on another (unpublished) game. Another roleplayer I know, used rpg design thinking in creating a game for a very specific part of a Sherlock Holmes improvised show to enable him to ‘solve’ the mystery.
