The one time so far that I’ve played a PBTA game was a convention game of Masks. Despite the character sheets being partially pre-generated, it took two hours (out of a four-hour session) for everyone to fill theirs out. Perhaps it’s a lot faster for people who already have experience with the system, but I think it just goes to show that fully pre-generated characters are the way to go for conventions.
I’m in a group that finally started playing Invisible Sun just this year, despite 2(!) of the members owning The Black Cube from the initial Kickstarter, we only started now.
We found ourselves having considerable troubles in getting sgoing.
It wasn’t the content-matter or anything like that; the real problem was the way the books and information were laid out. It felt quite counterintuitive and didn’t have enough examples in the text.
We all /like/ the game, but it definitely didn’t try to get us onboard.
