Get ready for…frankly I don’t know what this is. A book reading and experimental audio. Welcome to another filler episode. The November NPDs were shockingly positive, too many games have hit the market to reasonably keep up with, Itagaki’s Devil’s Third is now desirable for some reason, and the new Star Wars movie is happening this week.

A Toronto day-trip to a “winter” BitBazaar event held at the Canadian Videogame Awards give a new batch of indie reactions. After talking about some new gadgets they’ve picked up over the Black Friday season, Karol and Tim dive a bit into new Playstation VR news out of last week’s PSX event.
Also, dark secrets. And sibilance.

A deeper look into the final release version of Star Wars Battlefront leads into exchanges on content rationing, game design, the new Animal Crossing “board” game, and words that start with the letter “G.” If gradual realizations about the ways we insulate ourselves with commercialism are your thing, then boy is this the episode for you.

This week, Tim goes out of his way to spoil the story in Halo 5 for himself, Karol walks us through some of the new Yoshi’s Woolly world and Disney Infinity 3.0, and we have some surprisingly positive impressions of the new Guitar Hero Live, after getting some time with three songs we’ve never even heard of before the game’s impending release.

This week is a whole lot of discussion about the (now) public beta for Star Wars Battlefront, which unfortunately…ends the same day as our airing. Karol makes the credible threat that he’ll be buying Disney Infinity 3.0 in the coming days, and we try to keep our 90s-era science fiction titles straight.
Mistakes were made, but we’re not so selfish as to keep them to ourselves.

This week, Karol and Tim bring good tidings from Queen City Conquest 2015. Anecdotes from the gaming floor and our best impressions of the news we missed. Tim meets the mayor, Karol eats questionable BBQ, and a blossoming realization of our own mortality are prelude to your listening pleasure.
Sony finally gives a name to it’s VR headset (appropriately called PlayStation VR), and TGS signals a new season of games to be delayed to next year.

Karol and Tim do everything possible to avoid talking about the Konami-shaped elephant in the room that is the release of the new Metal Gear, so we gripe about the heat and hit up some unexpected news of a new Pikmin. We also play catch-up on recent playtime with games new and old. Tim bites his tongue so he won’t bore the room about a certain racing title hitting in just a scan few days. We make no mention of Marty O’Donnel wrecking house in the legal sense in his case against Bungie, but that’s also a thing that happened. Happy Tuesday.

Our audio is mad doo-doos this week. We record “live” on Skype, and Tim gets a DMCA takedown. Karol instructs the class on post-mortem Japanese corporate etiquette. Nintendo crushes one man’s dream, and Tim outwardly justifies it. This somehow leads into a brief stint on student debt. Hope you enjoy the show.

This week, Karol and Tim lay into loot crates, appreciate the fruits of the USPS, talk a bit about two flavors of gaming conventions, prattle on about MMOs and freemium game models, and actively slander/libel Konami.
There’s quite a bit in this episode, including some bonus round content at the very end.

Tim and Karol find themselves getting surprisingly little material out of the Street Fighter V beta as Capcom’s servers crumble helplessly under the stress of pre-order users. Fear not, as we have the next best thing: the GBA version of Street Fighter Alpha 3, played with a Sega Genesis controller.
Some brief topics of LE Amiibo/Skylander figures somehow transition into commentary on Social Media platforms, the Japanese adaptation of Minecraft-style game systems, chasing Sony’s PS1-era advertising successes, and the boundless joy that is Rocket League.
This week will also signal the start of Gamescom in Germany and Summer Games Done Quick.

This week’s show is highlights from EVO 2015, a crowd-funded Earthbound convention streamed on Twitch, the sandwich of Doctor Who and Back to the Future in Lego Dimensions, and social obligations after leaving town for the weekend. Also, fuzzy pickles and arcade-stick trends in the FGC.
As a bonus, here’s a video of Karol playing the Galaxy Force II arcade machine he rebooted at Skylon Tower in Canada.

This week’s show comes at the head of some very sad news in the gaming world. Satoru Iwata , the President of Nintendo, passed away at the age of 55 the day of our recording. Karol and Tim open with discussion about a survey of arcades on a trip to the Canadian side of Niagara Falls, and close with our reactions to Mr. Iwata’s passing.
We have photos from our Canadian trip on the TKV Team Facebook page.

This week, Karol and Tim catch up on some post-E3 gaming, and talk a bit about current and upcoming titles we’ve been playing amidst the hubbub of a year’s worth of news slapped into a week-long convention. Also, nasal congestion. We briefly follow up on a conversation about what makes a character attractive, which came up after a media interview with the team working on the new Legend of Zelda.
There’s also some news in the making, as some guy finds a priceless gaming artifact in his dad’s storage.

For part three of our E3 conference overviews, we snip the tail end of Microsoft’s offerings, and cover what EA, Ubisoft and Nintendo have on tap for the next year. We recount some brief hands-on with this holiday’s Mario Maker for Wii U and Zelda Triforce Adventure for 3DS, and share what are frankly some the most positive reactions we’ve had to a major press event. Something must have gone terribly wrong.
